Moms Nurture Nest Foundation is a non-governmental organization committed to supporting the mothers and children in the society. Recently, the organization launched an outreach programme in the Giri community, located in Abuja, where many residents face significant health challenges and poor living conditions.
On September 28th, the foundation visited the Giri community with a special focus on the health of women and children in the rural community. The team provided valuable health education, emphasizing the causes and prevention of common diseases like malaria, typhoid, and respiratory infections, which are prevalent in communities like Giri.
To further support the community, essential items such as mosquito nets and medications were distributed to help combat and prevent the spread of malaria, stress management, awareness on symptoms of tuberculosis, and how to get the necessary assistance. The outreach also included the provision of food, malaria testing and medications for both children and adults, treated mosquito nets, and mosquito repellent supplies to improve the overall well-being of the residents.
The visit was met with heartfelt gratitude, as the people of Giri expressed their appreciation for the Moms Nurture Nest Foundation’s thoughtful initiative to improve their health and quality of life.
Problem Statement
The Giri community in Abuja faces severe health challenges due to inadequate access to healthcare services, poor sanitation, and limited awareness of disease prevention. Common diseases such as malaria, typhoid, tuberculosis, and respiratory infections are prevalent, particularly among women and children, who are the most vulnerable groups. These issues are further exacerbated by poor living conditions and a lack of essential resources such as medications, mosquito nets, and food supplies, leaving the community struggling to maintain their well-being and quality of life.

On 12th October 2024, Mom’s Nurture Nest Foundation successfully carried out its second outreach program at the Abuja Children’s Home in Karu. The event was extra special as it also celebrated the birthday of one of the foundation’s esteemed members, Mrs. Victoria Zamani Dauda.
The outreach program provided an opportunity to extend care and support to the children living in the orphanage. A variety of engaging activities, including games, a bouncing castle, and educational sessions, were organized to encourage the children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development.
The foundation also donated gifts, refreshments, and essential items to ensure the children felt loved and valued. This initiative aligns perfectly with the foundation’s mission to nurture and uplift vulnerable children, especially those without parental care.
Through this program, Mom’s Nurture Nest Foundation continues to demonstrate its dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of disadvantaged children while fostering a spirit of community and social responsibility.
